There aren't many freeware anti-virus programs with good protection and frequently updated virus dat files that can be downloaded from the Internet. We believe that AVG Anti-Virus System is the best freeware anti-virus program on the Internet. The freeware version of AVG is a scaled-down version of the shareware version. It has the same anti-virus protection but fewer user features.

It's important that you update your virus dat files for the anti-virus program that you currently use because many new viruses are discovered on the Internet every week!
